Dahlia Tuber Sale is now LIVE on our website! Order ASAP for best selection, some varieties will sell out fast. Remember, this is a LOCAL sale (lucky you Nevada County 🌈) - we do not ship (but if you know someone local who is willing to mail or deliver to you, go ahead and order!).

Pick up will be this Saturday April 27th at a private residence in downtown Nevada City (address available when you check out on our site). Each order comes with a printed planting guide.

Check our stories for inspiration on what varieties look like in the wild. I'm kinda drooling today as I look at pictures from last summer. It's hard to not choose dahlias as my favorite flower when I see them in their glory 🤤.

All our dahlias are grown, stored and divided by us here at Soil Sisters Farm. Plant these in the coming month and you'll have incredible blooms all summer and into the fall - just be sure to keep cutting the flowers if you want the abundance! Orders (mix and match ok) for 10 tubers or more receive a 10% discount and orders for 25 tubers or more receive a 20% discount

Back at it. This time of year, and with such a wet

Back at it.
This time of year, and with such a wet spring, we exclusively hand-prep the beds. Cover-cropped areas are too wet to mow and incorporate with a tractor, so we leave some beds mulched and sans cover crop during the winter so we can get in early plantings.

We use a broad fork, digging fork and rake, along with inputs of compost and organic pelletized fertilizer, to prepare the soil for the seedlings we planted in the greenhouse in February and March.

Gorgeous day today, 65 degrees, and yet rain, snow and freezing nights forecasted for the end of the week 🤦‍♀️.
Classic spring.

I am finally emerging from hibernation, and it's on my list to promote our 2024 Summer Flower CSA. I wish someone else could market our flowers and I could just grow them. But, here we are. A taste of spring on its way in the foothills. And sandhill cranes passing thru again! Two huge groups circled over the farm just now, riding the currents upwards then heading north. Always makes us gasp and drop everything and search the sky when we hear their distinct calls.
Also we know what the track is, do you?
