Back at it. This time of year, and with such a wet

Back at it.
This time of year, and with such a wet spring, we exclusively hand-prep the beds. Cover-cropped areas are too wet to mow and incorporate with a tractor, so we leave some beds mulched and sans cover crop during the winter so we can get in early plantings.

We use a broad fork, digging fork and rake, along with inputs of compost and organic pelletized fertilizer, to prepare the soil for the seedlings we planted in the greenhouse in February and March.

Gorgeous day today, 65 degrees, and yet rain, snow and freezing nights forecasted for the end of the week 🤦‍♀️.
Classic spring.

I am finally emerging from hibernation, and it's on my list to promote our 2024 Summer Flower CSA. I wish someone else could market our flowers and I could just grow them. But, here we are. A taste of spring on its way in the foothills. And sandhill cranes passing thru again! Two huge groups circled over the farm just now, riding the currents upwards then heading north. Always makes us gasp and drop everything and search the sky when we hear their distinct calls.

Which picture should I have put first to entice you to the last @nevadacityfarmersmarket of the season tomorrow morning, 8:30-1, Saturday December 16th?

There won't be any piglets, but we are joining forces and selling from the @firstrainfarm stand, where this pig is from. This will be the last chance to buy our grande dried flower bouquets from us direct, we saved a couple boxes of our favorites for the holiday season.

They are only $40 and they last FOREVER. And they are organically grown from a small-scale, woman-run farm. I mean, if you'd like to impress someone with a gift this year...
